Galveston Country Club Rules

Rules of use have been established to ensure the maximum enjoyment of the Country Club by all its members. Membership in the Club involves a cheerful and willing obligation to observe its rules. It is the duty of the membership of the Club to know its rules and actively cooperate in the enforcement thereof. Members are expected to ensure family and guests are familiar with all applicable rules and policies. 
  1. Club facilities and grounds are intended for exclusive use if its members, their families, guests, and visitors invited under these rules and people calling upon members or having business connected with the Club.
    • Members that have guests or visitors must accompany their guests or make arrangements in advance for club use.
    • Renters are not allowed club use.
  2. A member's family, within the meaning of these rules, shall include the member's spouse, minor children not otherwise eligible for membership, and the surviving spouse of a member. Any member's unmarried child, over twenty-one (21) years of age who is attending school regularly and is dependent on his/her parents, or who is serving in the military forces of the United States, shall be entitled to all privileges accorded to the minor children of members. 
  3. Good order and decorum must be observed in all parts of the Clubhouse and premises. Any member, guest or visitor conducting himself or herself in any unbecoming manner shall be reported to the Board of Directors for such action as may be deemed appropriate. 
    • The Club Manager is vested with authority to enforce all House Rules. In the absence of the Manager, his designated assistant shall have said authority. A member or guest, who fails to comply with an order or request of the Manager, or his designated assistant in the Manager's absence, shall be required to leave, and a report thereof shall be made by the Manager to the Board of Directors for appropriate action. 
    • A member may not reprimand, verbally, physically, or sexually abuse an employee of the club. A member who violates standards of proper behavior towards an employee will be subject to censure, suspension or expulsion at the discretion of the Board of Directors. If you have any difficulties with staff, the appropriate person to deal with the problem is the General Manager. A direct reprimand is inappropriate. 
    • Galveston Country Club values your privacy and recognizes the sensitivity of your personal information. Contact information should be treated appropriately and not used for solicitation, mass mailings, distribution or mass emailing. 
  4. "For Cause" Action: (from By-Laws)
    • Board Vote Required - A member may be expelled or suspended, or other appropriate action may be taken For Cause, by affirmative vote of the majority of the members of the Board of Directors. Other appropriate action may include, but is not limited to, fines, suspension or written and/or verbal reprimands. The Board, by similar vote, may rescind any such action and reinstate the member, with or without conditions, at its discretion. 
    • Board Hearing Required, if Requested - Opportunity for a hearing before the Board of Directors may be requested for suspension or expulsion "For Cause". Notice in writing of the proposed action, starting the grounds for proposed suspension or expulsion or other action must be delivered to the member either electronically or mailed to the member's last address carried in the records of the Club. Such notice shall be delivered at least (5) days before action by the Board is scheduled. Failure to appear and request a hearing, except under extenuating circumstances acceptable to the Board, shall constitute a waiver of the Member's right to a hearing. 
  5. Non-payment of accounts: Any Member whose dues, other charges or assessments remain unpaid for a period of sixty (60) days shall be allowed no charges until such time as all past due amounts have been paid in full. If all amounts are not then paid within another thirty (30) days, the Member shall stand suspended and permanent dismissal shall be considered by the Board of Directors as well as public posting. 
  6. Members shall be required to pay green fees, pool fees, and other such charges may be applicable incurred by their guests. All such fees and charges made by members of their families. 
  7. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the property. If a member has a service animal, the General Manager should be notified in advance in writing with the appropriate documentation to verify the service animal. 
  8. The Club will be closed every Monday. When Monday falls on a holiday or a special event is scheduled, then the Club will remain open on Monday and will be closed on the following day unless otherwise announced.
  9. Private parties are solicited from members during regular Club hours. Arrangements for parties will be made with the Club Manager under the following restrictions:
    • Outside Club hours, the Club Manager will require a guarantee of an economical number of persons or dollar amount sufficient to reimburse the Club.
    • Reservations will not be charged for unless reasonable notice of change is given; such notice to be determined by the Manager depending upon the amount of preparation required. 
  10. Members and guests are not permitted to bring any beverage or food into the Clubhouse or on the Club property. 
  11. GCC is family friendly club and all attire should be family appropriate. Dress shall be at the option of the member or guest except at special functions when dress is designated, and with the following limitations:
    • Swimming attire without a cover up is not permitted in any part of the Clubhouse. 
    • Hats may be worn in the bar.
    • The dining rooms have a business casual dress code after 5pm. Long pants or dress shorts and a collared shirt for men. Dressy casual for women. No flip flops. No exercise shorts. No tank tops. No jean shorts. No t-shirts. No cut off shorts. 
    • The Bar/Lounge are casual and golf attire is permitted. 
    • The Pavilion dress code is casual. Golf attire and appropriate swim attire is permitted. 
    • Exceptions can be made for special events.
  12. Articles left on Club premises or with attendants by members or guests are left at the sole risk, of the member or guest. Neither the Club nor the attendant shall be held responsible for loss or theft. "Articles" above include personal items left with Locker Room attendants and Golf equipment left with bag room attendants.
    • If a hurricane is eminent, make arrangements with the Pro Shop to remove your equipment from the Golf Bag Storage Room.
  13. The Locker Room and House attendants shall not be required to attend any duties other than those to which they are regularly assigned by Club General Manager.
  14. Members children may use the Club facilities if they are under the age of 21 unless otherwise noted in #2.
    • Children under 21 are not allowed in the bar after 5:00 PM.
    • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  15. A gratuity of eighteen percent (18%) shall be added to each separate billing for food and beverage if there is no tip indicated on the bill. Gratuities shall be distributed to food service employees by the Club.
  16. Members are encouraged to sign charge checks for all food, beverage services, etc.
  17. Fishing and crabbing on Galveston Country Club property are permitted only from the bulkhead (boat dock) for members and their guest. The boat dock is located southwest of the parking area behind the swimming pool.
  18. GCC has a tobacco free and vape free policy in all areas under the clubhouse roof, including the pavilion.
  19. Members desiring to submit suggestions or criticisms of any department of the Club's activities are particularly urged to address General Manager, rather than the Club employees. The General Manager is not obligated to investigate any criticism unless made in writing and signed by the submitting members.
