Golf Course Rules & Regulations

Rules of Golf
Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, as modified by posted local rules. 
Etiquette
  • GCC expectation is that rounds of golf should take no longer than 4 hours.
  • Courtesy, safety, and reasonable pace of play are expected at all times.
  • Groups falling behind should invite the group behind the play through. 
  • Concerns should be directed to the Head Golf Professional. 
Course Hours & Closures
  • The course and all practice facilities are closed on Mondays (except scheduled tournament play).
  • Course closures for other reasons, such as weather, are determined by the Superintendent and/or Head Golf Pro.
Registration & Tee Times
  • Members and guests must register in the Pro Shop before play.
  • Tee times are required daily.
  • Stockholders may book 3 weeks in advance; other members, 1 week.
  • No starting on #10 without Pro Shop approval.
Ground Rules
  • Foursomes have priority. Singles have no standing. 
  • Twosomes and threesomes may be paired to fill foursomes.
  • Fivesomes are permitted but must maintain pace.
  • Each player must have their own clubs.
  • No shared playing from one bag.
  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent unless otherwise authorized.
  • All play starts from Hole 1 unless otherwise permitted. 
Guest Policy
  • Guests must be accompanied by a member unless pre-approved.
  • Groups of 5+ guests require prior Pro Shop approval.
  • All guests must register at the Golf Shop.
  • Reciprocal play must be arranged through the Pro Shop.
Golf Attire
Members are responsible for guest attire.
  • Men: Collared shirts (tucked unless designed untucked), golf shorts/slacks. No jeans, gym wear, t-shirts, or swimwear. Hats worn bill-forward. Shirts that fall below the shorts pockets must be tucked in. 
  • Women (14+): Golf shorts, skorts, slacks. No short shorts, yoga/exercise gear, or revealing tops. Golf or athletic shoes only.
  • Children (12 & Under): Conventional golf attire recommended. 
Pace of Play (4 hours or less)
  • Play should be prompt and courteous. 
  • Ready golf is encouraged.
  • Groups stopping for lunch lose priority.
  • Pro Shop may marshal during peak periods.
Golf Carts & Push Carts
  • Only licensed drivers (16+) may operate carts.
  • 2 players per cart max.
  • Pair up when possible (2 carts/foursome; 3 carts/fivesome).
  • Carts must remain on paths on Par 3's, and remain 20 yards off of green fronts.
  • Push carts must stay 5 yards from green/tees.
  • Members using club carts are charged even if they own a private cart.
Handicaps
  • Managed per USGA guidelines.
  • Members must submit all scores.
  • Incomplete or dishonest scoring may result in adjusted handicaps.
Driving Range & Practice Areas
  • Hours vary seasonally.
  • Practice only in designated areas.
  • Range balls may not be removed or used on the course.
Course Care
  • Replace divots, repair ball marks, and rake bunkers.
  • Private cart owners must carry and use divot sand.
  • No pets on the golf course or practice facilities.
Enforcement
Repeated violations of any of these golf rules may be subject to disciplinary action that may include written and verbal reprimand or a fine.
Course Conditions & Information
  • Tournament schedules posted on the club website.
  • Daily updates sent via club tee sheet or email. 
Weather Alert Policy
When a weather event is indicated by the weather warning system, golfers are expected to evacuate the golf course and seek shelter. Failure to do so is at the sole risk of the player.

Ladies & Men's Golf Associations

LGA

The Galveston Country Club Ladies Golf Association is proud to have a history dating back to 1905. Our purpose remains to promote the spirit of the game of golf to our members.

Our play days are Thursdays with tee times beginning at 9:00 AM and Saturdays with tee times beginning at 10:10 AM. The dues, as of 2026, are $75 per year. There is an optional $5 per year Hole-In-One Club. Our season begins Janaury commencing in December with a Holiday Scramble, luncheon and awards ceremony. The Member's Memorial Tournament, Mary Garza Guys and Gals, Pelican Cup, LGA Championship and a Holiday Scramble are some of the special events held during the year. 

The LGA is a member of the Gulf Coast Interclub, which, along with Galveston, includes South Shore Harbour, Magnolia Creek, Hermann Park, Wilderness, Battleground, Pearland and Golfcrest. Two person teams from the clubs compete in a best ball format at the various clubs for Gross & Net honors. Those events are held on the fourth Thursday of each month - February through September ending with a two day event in October at which teams and their respective clubs are awarded Gross and Net honors for the season.

Our membership is open to both Stock and Social Members. Please contact the Business Office for more information regarding becoming a member of the LGA.

MGA

Welcome to the Galveston Country Club!
All members of the club are encouraged to join the Men’s Golf Association (MGA).  Our MGA is comprised of both Stock Members and Social Members. The membership fee is $100 per year. 

The objective of the MGA is to promote the enjoyment of the game of golf and to create camaraderie among the members of the club.  All golfers at every skill level are encouraged to join the MGA. This is a great way to meet your fellow club members!

The MGA sponsors a number of events during each calendar year.  These events are designed to create friendly competition among the members and provide various formats to challenge your skills while making the event an enjoyable time. You must be a member of the MGA to play in any MGA event.

How Do I Join?

Simply contact the Pro shop or call the Membership Office of your intent to join the MGA/LGA.  They will assist you with your enrollment and take care of all the details.  We do keep an up to date roster on the full MGA/LGA membership.

SUMMER JUNIOR GOLF CAMPS
Summer Camps are held in June and July for youth between ages 6-13 years of age for skill levels from beginner to a seasoned junior player. Instruction covers safety, etiquette, rules, putting technique, short game and full swing.
